The Black Hole at the Beginning of Time

You may be interested to know that I got a request from an astrophysics journal asking if I might do a piece on the Holographic Universe. Apparently, this particular issue of this particular journal was doing a special issue on The Holographic Universe. They found my paper on Holographic Aberrations, and so thought I could write up something for them. I had to let them know that I was an optical holographer, nothing to do with the cosmological theory of The Holographic Universe. They seemed as surprised to find out there was an alterntae meaning to the word. It works both ways!

A further irony is that an old professor of mine, David Bohm, first came up with the concept of a holographic universe. So, there's Bohm's idea of a holographic universe in full bloom as a theory of cosmology, and there's one of his students, now in full bloom as a holographer.

August 2014 Scientific American: "The Black Hole at the Beginning of Time"
I'm hard pressed to hold my tongue about the holography references.
