Re: Seeking Experiences and Resources for DIY Holographic Printer Construction

Where are you located? Depending on where you are, there might be someone relatively near you doing exactly what you’re looking for. Have you done a google search? There’s a ton of literature available through SPIE. You’lll have to become a member to access it. There’s also a bunch of excellent mast...

Re: beam ratios: silver vs. polymer vs. DCG

Yes, I’ve heard that the HX200 requires a “threshold” exposure and that it likes as much total light as possible for complete exposure and brightness. I’ve done a lot of research into it as well as numerous conversations and even have some😊 - but haven’t actually tried it in my own studio - just oth...

Re: beam ratios: silver vs. polymer vs. DCG

Interesting. I’ve heard from others re the HX200, that very high beam ratios, compared to silver halide, can work as well as lower beam ratios. Someone got good results with the HX200 using a 150:1 beam ratio. If repeatable, that would mean lower power lasers could produce reasonable quality hologra...

Agree with all of the other comments and want to reference this further elucidation by DIN:

Re: One-step real-image reflection hologram?

Yes, standard one step focused image hologram. Haven’t done it in reflection but you can place the plate so that the focused image is on one side of the plate or the other. Seems pretty straight forward. Candidly, surprised that the European Journal of Physics would consider it for publication in 20...

Re: Donate and Help Conservation Research?

As you no doubt know, there are a lot of variables that go into conserving these types of holograms recorded in silver halide emulsions. They would include, but not limited to, manufacturer, lot or batch #, various post exposure darkroom processing regimes including water wash steps, subsequent expo...

Re: Donate and Help Conservation Research?

Do you know the manufacturer and specific emulsion type of the plate you’ve been testing?
Apparently similar work has been going on at NorthWestern as well.

Suggest you download this paper for a 40 year old overview of embossing. https://www.holorez.com/document/photoresist-selection-recording-plating-and-embossing-methods-used-for-mass-replication-of-large-format-embossed-holograms/ Also suggest picking up a copy of Practical Holography 4th edition whi...

Re: recent DCG hologram

Nice. Wonder what difference it would have made if just 532 or 488nm.
