Is first surface mirror and one way mirror the same? Not sure about that. Edmund Optics tends to have first surface mirrors for quite cheap: https://www.edmundoptics.com/optics/optical-mirrors/flat-mirrors/150mm-experimental-grade-first-surface-mirrors/ Take a look at their clearance items as well....

By the looks of it, you're not using a first surface mirror. There should be no gap between your fingernail and the reflection.

I'm not 100% sure what the consequences of not using first surface mirrors is, but it can't be good!
