Re: Novel glass-coating methods?
Have you tried using a Meyer bar? I tried to find one for sale online some time ago, but I had trouble finding any. The fact that "mayer bars" are also known as meyer bars, meyer rods, meter bars, meter rods, metering rods, equalizer bars, doctor rods, etc. doesn't help. I'll have another...

Re: Novel glass-coating methods?
What coating method do you use Pluto, and what size of plates are you making? What are your failure modes? I've only ever veil coated without spinning, plate sizes vary from 3x4" to 5x7". As for failure modes, the major ones are: - Emulsion dripping down the wrong side of the glass - Bubb...

Novel glass-coating methods?
Creating this thread by "popular demand" In an unrelated thread, forum member Zeta asked if glass could be uniformly coated with gelatin using a silkscreen process. I think it would be good to brainstorm some possible ways to apply a uniform coating of gelatin to glass consistently a...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
Has anyone ever tried silkscreen technique for coatings? Zeta, please try this if you can. I'm very interested in alternate coating techniques, as coating plates is currently one of the most tedious and unreliable parts of holography for me. Some form of spray-coating would be great as well. If the...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
I think I will buy a new one from sam's laser. And how thick should my emulsion be? When starting, don't worry about that. Just heat your glass plate and emulsion to 40c to start and veil coat. You don't really even need to spin it to get a decent result. Once you get a hologram, then you can start...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
I already replace the power supply to 5v 10A 50w and power it direct to the controller let it warm up 1 hour pass it's hot (+-40C I think) (heatsinked) but still nothing. Then I take analog readings pin9-pin14 = 0.23v pin9-pin4 = 3.8v pin9-pin5 = 0.02v pin9-pin6 = 3.88v pin9-pin7 = 0v pin9-pin12 = ...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
It seems like my regulator doesn't function well. :( :( I will update after I replace it. pin 4 = laser status = ON pin 6 = thermal control = ON pin 15 = laser ready = OFF (!) no laser ready... wait a minute, try connecting pin 1 to 11 to enable the interlock! if you still have no luck, please get ...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
Yes, put the jumper there, let it warm up for 5 minutes (make sure everything is heatsinked) then take the analog readings.Zeta wrote:Do I still need to put the jumper here at the green arrow?

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
From sam's laser faq: "However, there is an additional 2 pin header on the controller which may be labeled: "Autostart Jumper" or "Interlock Jumper". It is between the DB15 and Digital Controller connector. With a jumper installed, the laser will start up automatically upon...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project
D'oh... I'm too used to having a dial and RS232 control on my controller. Of course you're getting no output... you've not programmed the controller via the DB15 (unused in your pic) port. Here is the pinout: http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/laserscl.htm#sclcpsma BTW: What are those two wires you have t...
