Re: Current practical methods for printing CGH
Thanks again for your help lobaz. I've been looking for a decent introduction to CGH for hobbyists since I learned about this medium, and finding your CDGH tools is what inspired me to try it out for real. I'm not sure myself whether software hacking alone will be sufficient... I too feel I may have...

Re: Current practical methods for printing CGH
Thank you for the in-depth reply! Do you know an imagesetting service that you can recommend? The ones I've seen seem to be pretty expensive/want large minimum orders. As for the CDR drive, I've managed to track down and obtain the same model drive sakamoto et. all used for the experiment 20 years a...

Current practical methods for printing CGH
As the topic says. Are there any current methods for 'printing' computer generated holograms that are feasible for the hobbyist holographer at home? As far as budget goes, I'm broke. I'm aware of: 1) Photographic compression (print out the hologram on paper, take a picture on high-contrast 35mm film...

I still check this forum daily!
Maybe a bit of lighthearted off-topic discussion would help inspire some more activity on the forums overall.

Re: LitiHolo free hologram kit contest
The contest is over, and Liti pulls through.
They even helped and allowed overseas shipping. Bless these kind folks.
Thank you everyone for your help. I'm really excited.

Re: LitiHolo free hologram kit contest
Thanks for the help everybody!! I just checked and it looks like I've gathered about 65 points... so that's enough for the highest reward tier! I don't think it'll do much good to keep using my link, so if anybody else would like to try, feel free to reply with your link and I'll remove mine from th...

LitiHolo free hologram kit contest
It appears that LitiHolo is doing a contest to win their hologram kits for free. Apparently if you refer 20 people to sign up via email, you've got a free kit. And just registering automatically gets you discounts on their store. Anybody want to help me out? ^_^ https://litiholo-giveaway-contest.kic...

Re: Decent cheap timed shutter?
Ed Wesly to the rescue again! I've heard of the old camera method but never really understood how it worked before I saw this, so thanks!
Reading this, it sounds like a voltage meter + darkroom timer would be a good setup for longer exposures, too.
Thanks again for all the help.

Decent cheap timed shutter?
Exactly as the topic says, does anyone happen to know of a decent electronic timed shutter? It seems like the answer is to build it myself, but I know embarrassingly little about electronics. From what I understand, I can use a 'solenoid shutter' for a digital camera: https://ebay.to/2KW76Wb And att...

Re: Understanding transmission holograms and HOEs/gratings
Thank you all for your incredibly helpful replies! This is more than I could have possibly hoped for. Urge you to get a copy of Practical Holography... I'm in the process of reading through it now, thanks. It's a wonderful read and I'm learning a lot already. I'm just getting to the chapter on trans...
