Hi ahgu, I suspect that it is using a Doctor Blade. Something like this:

Re: ISDH 2018

Have any of the presentations been videoed and made available to the public?
I did see a short clip of some holograms being displayed, but that's all.

Re: Very curious to know your position about this Kickstarter project

I suspect that many amateur holographers here make display holograms for the fun and the challenge. That black box doesn't add anything to that pursuit. I can see that it may have some use in the engineering environment, prototyping, those sorts of applications. Maybe it could be used to display the...

Re: Improvement on my project

Some points: Your reference beam is "dirty" as indicated by light and dark banding. I assume that your beam steering mirror is first surface coated and not just a normal mirror??? Otherwise the banding may be caused by inter surface reflection in your lens beam expander. You may be better ...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project

Is it better to get closer to 90degree or 56degree is the best? The easiest way to get the correct angle for minimum reflection, is to place an uncoated piece of glass, a slide in your case on your setup and adjust the angle of your laser beam to give you minimum reflection of the beam on your ceil...

Re: 1st time on DCG Project

This one using silkscreen, 10 micron Zeta, you coatings look to be too thin or need more AmDi, but I suspect the former. You are using a 10 micron (10µm) silkscreen, I assume that is thickness when the gelatin is still in it's wet state? You must allow for the emulsion thickness to shrink due to wa...

"I think I'm going to buy one of their "DRAW DOWN WIRE BAR COATERS", but which thickness should I be aiming for? " From the link: "Spiral bar coaters are used to apply a film on thin materials such as sheets or plastic, so that the hiding power of the coating can be measured...

Re: Novel glass-coating methods?

Have you tried using a Meyer bar? I tried to find one for sale online some time ago, but I had trouble finding any. The fact that "mayer bars" are also known as meyer bars, meyer rods, meter bars, meter rods, metering rods, equalizer bars, doctor rods, etc. doesn't help. I'll have another...

"- Emulsion dripping down the wrong side of the glass - Bubbles in the emulsion Annoying parts of the process: - The insane amount of excess emulsion required to coat plates, as much of it spills off in to the drip tray - Having to constantly pour emulsion from drip tray back into squeeze bottl...

Re: Novel glass-coating methods?

What coating method do you use Pluto, and what size of plates are you making? What are your failure modes? I did briefly try veil coating without much success. Like much of DCG, I found it difficult to get consistent results. I find that mould coating (casting), gives me consistent results. However,...
