Re: A pdf of all known bleaches
What is the purpose of using these different bleaches? Do they change the outcome of the hologram? This is a very interesting and thought-provoking question. A quick answer would be: yes, some bleaches affect the outcome significantly. First of all, there is a piece of history behind. At first, hol...

Re: First attempt
So what kind of laser do you recommend to enhance my holograms on a budget of $ 50 to $ 100 (for DCG)? Look in the For Sale / Trade section of the forum. The user soda offers a nice reliable 100 mW green laser, holomaker may have some as well. Send them a private message or post a request to that s...

Re: First attempt
Hi Serge, sorry, I don't know any Mexican holograher. 1. My first suspect would be the laser. Are you sure it is stable enough for holography? Did you build a Michelson interferometer and observed the fringes over a long period of time? Or even better, can you analyse the laser spectrum? 2. The seco...

Re: First attempt
Hi Serge,
I think it is quite impressive for a begginer. Starting with DCG is not easy, as there are too many variables what can get wrong. Where are you located? Did you try to find any holographer nearby?

Re: Fog hologram transmition
Hi Antonio,
you should provide more details, a photo of the setup and the hologram would be also helpful. Anyway, if you use silver halide plates, my first guess would be overexposure.

Re: Holographic Optical Element (HOE) of simple reflection mirror
Dinesh, did you take into account index of refraction of the emulsion in your back-of-the-envelope calculation? I guess the Bragg planes would not be at the angle 30 deg.

Re: Holographic Optical Element (HOE) of simple reflection mirror
The strips you see are most likely from interference between reflection on the first surface of the mirror (glass) and on the second surface (silver or Al). You need a first surface mirror, i.e., the there in no cover glass on the silver surface.

Re: First non-terrible color hologram
Thanks for the document. The presented hologram looks like the one Yves Gentet makes. The photo of the lab refers to "Vladimir" - it may be Vladimir Kuznetsov who works with Ultimate plates a lot. The document also mentions "Kris" - it may be Kris Meerlo, who also works with Ulti...

Re: Understanding the principle
If you mean the display with the terrain from the film Avatar (https://james-camerons-avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Operations_Center), this is hardly possible with classical holography. If fact, illusions floating in the air above an table are still possible just in sci-fi. I am not aware of any pysical p...
