I'm impressed - it must look fantastic:

For some reason, my monochromatic 4x5 holograms of plain old crumpled Alcan foil have so far been much
less impressive. The only fix I can think of is a judiciously placed dinosaur. And maybe a kitten. And
some sand and sea shells, so we are underwater now and the foil is the water surface and mermaids are
singing, each to each. I do not think that they will sing to me.

Why does this sound vaguely familiar? Oh wait! I have just such a hologram placed in a prominent position in the lab. It's actually sitting right next to the two "kitsch" holograms. Can't think where I got it from.......By the way whatever happened to that dam dino? I think it ought to be in the Smithsonian. Best series of holograms I ever saw!Tom B. wrote:The only fix I can think of is a judiciously placed dinosaur. And maybe a kitten.
I don't know about water surfaces and mermaids. I do know that equations sing to me. Apropos of nothing at all, a student of Einstein's recalled that he was in the same room as Einstein when Einstein received the telegram confirming General Relativity. The student asked Einstein what would be his reaction if the displaced stars had not measured according to the theory. Einstein replied, "Then I should feel sorry for the Good Lord. The theory is too beautiful to be wrong"Tom B. wrote:so we are underwater now and the foil is the water surface and mermaids are

He probably hangs out there a lot. His species also has a page on Myspace, which is big in the dinosaur demographic these days...Dinesh wrote:By the way whatever happened to that dam dino? I think it ought to be in the Smithsonian.!
