No longer the renaissance?

Post by Dinesh »

So, I'm reading "Fourier Analysis and Imaging" (Ronald Bracewll) and in the intro it states that the primary method of information transfer in the digital age is imagery. It then states that the creation of imagery was once the sole purview of artists with a rich history going back to Neanderthal cave paintings. "Ummmm", I'm thinking, "artists?" So then it occurs to me that if the Hockney-Falco thesis is true ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockney%E2 ... lco_thesis ), then is the renaissance no longer the renaissance, but a bunch of clever artisans?
