Transition to a new forum home

As you should be aware, the current home for the holography forum will discontinue service at the end of January. Ahmet deserves a major "thank you" for the his efforts keeping the forum afloat these past many years.

There is a plan on the table for continuing the forum at a new home. Nothing says this is the plan we must follow, but if there are other ideas, now is the time to step forward. Here is the proposal:

We have a server located in the United States courtesy of Dannybee. At least initially, I'll provide much of the support to set up and then administer the relocated forum. If there are others who'd volunteer to help with forum administration, that would be most welcome.

At some appropriate time between now and the end of January, the new forum would "go live" with substantially the same look and feel of the existing forum. All the posts from the current forum would be reproduced at the new location as of the "go live" instant. (The Old Forum would also be reproduced at the new site.)

All posts and forum structure would be reproduced; personal information in the form of passwords, email addresses, and private messages would not. Everyone would need to reregister at the new forum.

The reregistration requirement, the loss of private messages, and the change to a new URL to access the forum are the only speed bumps of which I am aware. Well, that plus any posts made on the current forum after the "go live" moment would not be reproduced at the new home.

I invite your comments, whether positive, negative, or neutral.

Was not the reason that Ahmet took it over was because of litigation during Colin's time? Isn't that why Ahmet took it to Switzerland? Perhaps Colin could let us know whether or not that particular head may rear itself.

When Ahmet took over the forum
He gathered the data to store 'em
In digital banks
For which we give thanks
We wish all good future things for 'im
