Hi all,
here are two pictures of holograms made with homebrew silver gelatins fabricated with the precipitation method.
That homemade material shows a sensitivity of about 2mJ/cm^2 @633nm.

wow this is great! as money gets tight every where and the cost of film and plates rise more holographers will try to make home made plates. Im almost setup to make silver plates! can you share your process

Cristiano,
Would you at least tell us if you want to let us know how you made the plates. I think a lot of us keep returning to this page just to find out that you gave no reply at all to this question. It's fine if you want to keep it a secret, but at least let us know if that is your plan.

sorry for delay in answering back.
Main formulation and process are available on this forum here:
http://holographyforum.org/phpBB2/viewt ... 333#p41333
The differences to the original formulation of Darren Green are:
- gelatin (type A) up to 8g
- potassium iodide 3ml
- lithium bromide instead of potassium bromide
- emulsification temperature 32C
- after mixing the halide/gel to the silver/gel solution (this step requires 90 seconds), I immediately put the emulsion into the freeze for 30 minutes
Delevoper:
Kodak D19 with only 30g of sodium sulfite
Bleach:
Rehalogenating Fe-EDTA @20C
Dry:
Isopropylic alcool 85% @20C
That"s all!

Addendum:
just prior to expose, plates were soaked in 10% TEA for 30 seconds

Thank you Alchemist
Which method do you use for coating your plates - mold-coating or veil-coating ?
