Hello. I run a small, family-owned business and I was interested in producing I.D. cards for some of my employees. While my business is small, my employees would greatly benefit from having I.D. cards that would prove their partnership in my business to our affiliates and customers. I was interested in making and laminating the cards myself and including a simple rainbow hologram of the name of my business on the laminate, but I do not know where to begin. I was hoping to find answers to my questions here. What method of holography would I need to produce such a hologram on a laminate and where can I learn more about how to do so? Also, any other information that would be beneficial to me I would be grateful to hear, such as a projected price and what materials I would need, etc. Thank you in advance

The easiest method would be to hire a company to produce the hologram for you. The whole project should cost less than $2000 and you will end up with thousands of holograms.

If you really want to do it yourself then you will want to look at these links:

Ok, not sure how "secure" you want these but a simple and cheap way of making some cards would be as follows. With a small family owned company, I assume you have a low number of employees. So unless you want to spend hundreds per person, here may be an alternative.

Get some holographic foil, the kind you see as wrapping paper with some adhesive backing. Cut a large size that can fit through a laser printer. Print you logo or name or whatever you wish right on the holographic foil. Use the adhesive to stick the foil to some plastic card stock on both sides. Then laminate the whole think in some clear laminating material, heat sealed looks most professional.

Or get that same holo stock and print your name on a small square of it. Then cut out that square and stick it on the security card. Then laminate.

If that will not do it, it would be possible but more ellaborate to use a laser to cut the name of you company out of that same holographic foil. Remove adhesive backing and stick the "letters" to the white plastic card stock. Laminate in clear stock as above.

Just some economical suggestions. Good luck.

You can buy an inexpensive color photo ID card System that print to inkjet ID cards for under $200 at www.worwind.com. Inkjet ID cards are regular PVC 30 mil ID cards that have a clear coating that will absorb ink.You can also buy holograms there that no one else sells.
If you want a custom hologram you can buy from India for $400 plus another $400 for 5,000 holograms. Contact Sumit Sarin
