I am going to outline what you need to do quickly, you will find each step here is quite complex and lots can go wrong. I have not done this but I have commisioned the work.

Use a very blue laser, like HeCad to make a relief hologram in photoresist as it is only sensitive to very short wavelengths. Develop so you have a relief structure. Coat the plate with nickle. Use the plate to to make a daughter shim in thin metal. Laminate the daughter shim onto a stamp. Hot stam Mylar and then laminate it to a reflective foil. Now you have the kind of hologram you are talking about.

What do you mean it has to be laminate? Is it that you want to laminate it onto your card?

As Colin stated, it is a lengthy process and difficult. That is, the laminate (embossed) holograms. THose are usually made for mass production and not singles. For a single hologram, just get the integraf kit and make a reflection hologram in film. That will be difficult enough to do. And it will look like this. You can then laminate that piece of film onto you card. Will that work?

You might want to look at using a stock embossed hologram from the Holobank, and customize it with overprinting or other further manipulation. That way you don't have to start from the beginning with a fully custom hologram image.

Good call BobH. I remember making business card by taking some stock holographic laminate (with the sticky backing) and putting it on card stock. Then printing with a laser printer my info. Then cutting into business cards. Very attractive.

Best to just buy similar holograms.
You can find several at http://www.worwind.com. If the link works see:

I envision a particular version of Utopia in which newcomers actually return to the site to confirm that they've digested the thoughtful comments that they've received from you experts!

I had the same reaction as Greg. It would be a real loss to our small community if the willingness to take the time to offer considered posts in reponse to novice's questions was stifled due to lack of acknowleding feedback. This forum (and many of its members) was a great help to me. Because of all the help I received, I now feel modestly competent at (and derive great pleasure from) making holograms. Thank you!
