Charles Vest was the author of a weighty tome, Holographic Interferometry, from back in the ‘70’s. I got to see him give his talks at the Lake Forest College Holography Workshop II, and he could really explain what was going on with the sensitivity vector, heterodyning, etc., in such simple ways that even I could grasp it.

He stopped coming to LFC because he was rising up the academic ladder at U. of Michigan, where he became a Dean and maybe even Provost before taking over the Presidency of MIT.

I think that he just might have had something to do with MIT buying the Museum of Holography collection as that was in his tenure.

Too bad I never got his autograph! 72 is relatively young! Although it would be great to accomplish even 1% of what he did!
