I would like to make a transmission hologram and then use that as a master to make reflection hologram copies. I have carefully studied Graham Saxby's book diagrams and they always show a space between the two plates when making the copy (which I wonder about) and I am unsure of where the emulsion is in his diagrams.
So to clarify the process for myself, I have created the attached diagram which shows how I think it ought to work. My uncertainty, of course, is about panel 3. If any of you have experience making copies this way, I would be very grateful for any clues. Thanks.

Notice in the repay of the reflection copy Saxby is using
A laser to replay it, probably due to restricted depth if you would use white light ....never tried it , should work !youll need to keep your object as close as possible to the film plane .

Can you say why? I need it at 1.5 inches behind film.

The deeper your image , depending on your light source the fuzzier it will get ...
