Hi,

Could someone advise my on coating bars please?

I will be coating dcg on to glass and read in practical holography I need around a 7um emulsion layer for DCG. The bar mentioned in the book states a #24 gauge bar but when I looked this up I think this was about 60um.

I have found a UK source for the bars but am not sure if the micron stated for the bar is for the wet film. If it is then I'm guessing there will be some shrinkage once the film dries?

Can anyone advise how much the the dcg layer will shrink, I know there are a tonne of variables so just looking for a beginners ball park figure please?
If you can advise on a bar to buy based on the layer thickness it puts down then that would also be excellent :D

Many Thanks
Grayham

If you're in UK, you couldn't do better than get in touch with Jeff Blyth about all of this. you might be able to visit and get some hands on guidance.

It's definitely an idea though currently I'm just enjoying working through everything.

I'm still looking for advice on a bar though if you have used one?

Kind Regards
