A quick, effective method of cleaning glass slides for coating

Hey all,

After spending so much time with different chemicals and scrubbing utensils, I think I've found the quickest and most effective way to clean glass in preparation for coating:

I tried this today. Just a bit of Comet (powder version) and about 15 seconds with a damp cloth had my glass plates passing the water break test!

Forgive me if this is old news or if there's some better way other there, but this was a game-changer for me :)

Very interesting video. Thanks.
Not sure though about Comet due to very fine scratching of glass. Maybe ok for DCG but not if you're trying to coat a 1-2um layer of resist I would suspect.

This would be fine for DCG -- Comet is quite soft compared to glass. It doesn't work by abrasion, but by altering the chemical composition of the dirt you want to get rid of.

The most exciting thing about this for me is how quickly you can get glass clean enough for coating. If your glass passes the water break test, you can be almost certain that it is extremely clean and ready for coating.

Would love to hear from others making their own plates!
