I want to add my voice of thanks to both Ahmet and Colin. I, too, was missing the (multi-)daily log-on to the holography forum. It's great to have this forum on-line so quickly. Jem, thanks for posting the link on PL. Best wishes to all, Ron

Thanks Ahmet for pulling this out of the fire, maybe we shall meet someday. And thanks to Colin for all the good times, it is indeed unfortunate that all your hard work is in Limbo, but your efforts are certainly appreciated! I'm nominating you for sainthood on Mt Holympus!

It's hard to predict what kind of shape a forum like this will take, but the world of holography certainly needs this! I gladly offer my services to get the ball rolling.

Hi all, and thank you Ahmet for starting this new forum to discuss the future. I also want to thank Colin for his long work with the old forum. It was a shock to discover that the forum was closed. I hope we can come up with a good solution and this is a great start.

In the old forum I have removed a lot of spam last year. First, it is important to take all measures to stop spam bots. Second, which is more difficult, is to try to stop human spammers that register just to spam. Some, are quite clever and make posts on-topic. E-mail registration is one measure. Maybe, if the registering process is a bit more advanced than just filling in a simple form, eg, needing to read a small text about holography, and answering some questions. It is also important to keep the members list hidden for non-logged in persons, otherwise people can just register to get a link showing.

Welcome everyone.

I'm happy that so many have found their way here.

DJ, thank you for the anti spam suggestions. I'll modify the registration page to include an additional question field and also think about email verification etc. I'm sure this forum can profit of a spam hunter too.

Danny, thanks a lot for your offer. It's good to know that i'm not alone and that so many people are willing to help. Well, the IP is quasi static, it changes every couple of months.

I can give you the space and also connect a domain to that space, what needs to happen is settling on a domain or subdomain and trasfering the php data file, I have the room and its paid for by several domain that I host off my site, also we where thinking of connecting it to holosource for supplies for new users.... but what ever you want so let me know what you want to do....I have 6 log on to mine it seems yous has more.... let me know that way we can save money...and if you want to have "founder rights" thats ok too so it would be your fourm on a active server located in (San Jose, CA) rather than a domain ping in Reno Navada to your computer im on skype if you want to talk to work out details danny.beee

Danny,

Everything is as it should be at the moment. I do have access to all the resources needed and don't seek incorporation into another concept at the moment or getting "founder rights". Thanks again for your kind offer.
