Hello,

My 2 eurocents.
Time is to rebuild or keep alive the community after the lost of holographyforum.org, I think.
2 fora, at this time is maybe a lose of time and energy, imho.
I'm not sure thart geographical location is a keypoint for holographers to meet each other.
I meet Hans and Kris in Holland but we was members of the same US based forum, so , if people want meet, YES, they can !
Yes, I know, I'm no more very active in the field, but I stay luckering.

Jean

I don't see any advantage in having multiple forums. There is no universal European language. If a dedicated European forum would be set up, the language used on it would be English. And what sets a forum apart from e.g. a chat is that the conversation is asynchronous. You can read anytime and write anytime with days or even months between posts. So time difference is never an issue really.

As far as moderation is concerned, I think it would be a good idea to have moderators from both sides of the ocean to make sure that there's always one side awake to remove spam etc. as soon as possible.

I'm amazed by how quickly they found this site and how they seem to have found a way to get around the captcha's. I flagged both posts and sent a mail to Ahmet. Hope they can be removed soon.

the guest posting should be turned off and set to read only....and not a auto registration for signing up

Guest posting was intentionally allowed as a courtesy to the old forum's users, until today. This feature should be disabled now for all fora. Thanks for pointing to the spam postings.

Hi all.
I was shocked to see the holographyforum.org closed and I am very glad that this forum appeared so rapidly. Hope, that lots of information, gathered on holographyforum will be somehow kept and available on the new forum. Thanks to Colin and thanks to Ahmet. I am sure that russian holographers will participate in the discussions inspite of language problems.

I'm glad to hear that, I used to visit the Russian forum quite frequently just to look at the pictures ;)
