Could you be more specific:
"10-30 514nm 532nm 405nm"
in the above line, the 10-30 is the ratio of dichromate to gelatin. But what do the wavelengths 514, 532 and 405 signify? which one's the recording wavelength, and which one the playback wavelength?

I am not sure I understand either. So all of the recording wavelengths are 532?

Then in 514 532 405 what are the 514 and the 405?

It's my understanding that your chart will only work with the specific
gelatin and processing scheme you are working with. Hence it will greatly matter if you change gelatin bloom strength, concentration, hardening etc.
Layer hardness appears to be pretty important. Having done some DCGs (at 532 nm) on old 8E75 and PFG-03 emulsions, I always ended up with green reflection holograms no matter what am. dich. concentration I used.

Apropos gelatin hardening, little importance has been attributed to the hardening agents. Since most people seem to use Kodak hardening fixer, it might be interesting to note it is based on aldehydes. Somewhere I found this:

Note: Fresh replenisher is colorless, but the solution turns dark purple after standing.This does not have any adverse photographic effects."

By the way, I was wondering about your microwave step. If I am not misled you said to apply it ca. 10 min. after coating. I would think this is by far too early. The gel containing lots of water will be boiled in the microwave oven. I'd rather suggest to have the layer dried for a couple of hours prior to the microwave treatment.

I believe what Danny is stating with this chart is the following;

At 10-30 the playback wavelengths are costant with what the recording wavelength was, that is 514 replays at 514, 532 replays at 532 and 405 replays at 405. Then if you decrease the dichromate concentration to 09-30 the 514 recording wavelength replays at 533, the 532 at 552 and the 405 at 424... and so forth.

Martin, you are correct. There are so many variable that affect the final playback wavelenth that these stardard would only be accurate it all other variables were maintained with with this chart was created.

I for one know that I can change the playback wavelength simply by modifiying the concentration of the 2nd of my four alcohol baths.

Also, the exposure duration will affect the final playback color.

I think Danny simply stated this is a chart for himself that allows him to have a base line for controlling the wavelength as a function of ADC concentration.

i have found that this chart is a good refrence of the degree of shift of color....even when i change bloom lets say 275 to 225 ...i still get near red at
(03-30) then depending on the water will determan my bandwith.....i made this chart to help me and also to see if using the uv laser diode by ati would be able to tune to the visable wave lenghts

its kinda funny.. but the over exposed or too much hardening will shift toward a blue playback....i dont quit understand why but it does
