Thanks for your detailed answers... I came up with the words diagram after much reading of Saxby's book... it appeared to me that the words were not used indistinctly, but maybe they are! I was kind of sure that 'flipping' only meant rotate about X, but going through your answer, Din, it may well be that I drew this conclusion because Saxby was using that only for overhead reference, as you explain.

And as you hint, Ed, there are not special words for each of those rotations in Spanish... You would use indistinctly "girar" o "rotar"... "invertir" would be used too, but only for rotations about axis X or Z, not Y.
